A few weeks back I had a phone call from the lovely Sophie from Stampin’ Up!® Office in Sydney. She rang to ask me to do a presentation at the upcoming Sydney Regional Training which was actually last weekend. I had wondered if she’d rung the right person but I did agree to do the presentation. Then after hanging up I did wonder ‘what was I thinking!!”
I figured this would be a good distraction to mum going into full time care and couple of my own health issues. So I started on preparation – I was to do a 10 minute presentation on How to run a Catalogue Launch.
I have presented before but it was just a 5 minute workshop wow and this was so different – how on earth am I going to get up infront of 180 or so other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and tell them how to run a Catalogue Launch.
Once I started writing it all seemed to flow and by the time I’d finished I actually had to cut some text as I was over the 10 minutes!
I even took the opportunity to transfer the file onto my iPad to read from. This was a good thing as the monitor to view the powerpoint I’d created wasnt working.
I was so nervous the whole week beforehand I dont think I slept all week which led to another problem – how to conceal those dark eyes! Mind you I did have a few chats with my lovely friend Melissa Garland as she too was presenting on the day. Its support like this that helps so much – I just hope I encouraged her as much as she encouraged me! I am also very grateful for the wonderful support and encouragement I get from the loverly Lisa Ryder who took this photo – so grateful as she remembered her camera as someone else forgot to take hers!
I was very grateful that I was on before lunch – it meant I could at least eat then and enjoy the rest of the day!
I am very grateful to all the lovely demonstrators who came to me afterwards and said they found my presentation helpful – that means so much and does wonders for one’s self esteeem.
As a thank you from Stampin’ Up Office for presenting they presented me with this lovely card …
A very lovely card which included a voucher for a free stamp set of my choice – now I just have to work out which one I want!
Congratulations Leonie! I would have loved to go and am sure would have learnt a lot from your presentation. I think what Lynda said is so true, and I am sure everyone there appreciated your presentation!
I have no doubts at all that you did a great job with your presentation Leonie – very well deserved “thanks”! Which stamp set did you choose?
Wow Leonie…..you need to start asking SU! for a stipend!! You would have been great (as always!!) and I too am sorry to have missed it…….enjoy your new set!!

Oh my….I loved reading this post!!!! I did my first presentation (a workshop wow) at the St. George Utah Regional in Sept – I thought at first that I was doing my presentation for the “regional” and then I found out that I was doing it for the Founder’s Circle portion of that regional – HOLY COW….the nerves were raging. How on earth was “I” going to show all of those talented stampers “ANYTHING?” It turned out really good for me – not as nervous as I thought I was going to be! And it was really fun! I feel like I’m ready for the BIG convention in the states now. Congratulations on your presentation – wish I could have been there!!!
Congrats Leonie. You must have been Buzzing with excitement!! The one thing I have found thru the SU demos and people I have met is their unquestioning support and encouragement, So nice to know that this goes all the way to the top!! I have read a couple of refional reports all saying that it was fab…they must have be referring to ur presentation!! Well Done.
