Good Afternoon! Today I am sharing my Watercolor Hues card.
I’ve recently restarted some challenges on my Stampin’ Up! Team and the first I offered was a sketch challenge. I chose this sketch from PageMaps (who have sketches for scrapbook layouts as well as cards!)
Here is this month’s Card Sketch …
This one caught my eye as it could easily be done with some pretty patterned papers and a few flower stamps or punches even.
Watercolor Hues
I’ve been loving what everyone has been making with the Hues of Happiness Suite so thought I’d pull mine out and create with it too!
I started with a Starry Sky tall card base. To this I stamped one of the flower stamps in Starry Sky to give it a subtle background.
How did she make that?
My top layer measures 8.5cm x 12.5cm. I chose a pieces of the Designer Series Paper with the Starry Sky brushwork on it to adhere to the bottom of my mat. This piece measures 6.5cm x 8.5cm.
The flowers and leaves are stamped onto our Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper in Jet Black Stazon. Using an Aqua Painter I coloured the flowers in shades of Pink, Blue and Yellow. As you know, at Stampin’ Up! we dont just have Pink, Blue and Yellow. So I used Flirty Flamingo & Polished Pink for the Pinks, Balmy Blue and Starry Sky for the Blues and Pale Papaya and Mango Melody for the Yellows. The leaves were coloured using Soft Seafoam and Parakeet Party.
Using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine I cut the flowers and leave out using the Blossoming Happiness dies. The centre flower was affixed with dimensionals and the two outer flowers with multipurpose glue. I embellished with the gorgeous Glossy Dots.
As I used a dark card base I popped in a white insert and stamped a sweet birthday wish and some more of the roses in Starry Sky.
