Hello and welcome to another round of talented Stampers doing Stamping Techniques 101 Blog Hop ..
This month we are all sharing quick and easy ways with masking. I love masking as you can get so many different results from it – I’ve done a few masking cards before and thought I’d do something a little different this time.
Here’s the finished card I’ve made using the masking technique ..
I do love how this turned out and I know new stampers are thinking there’s no way you could make that. Well, you can … and I’m going to sow you how!
Tools you’ll need …
- Stamps
- inks
- daubers
- post it notes (i used full adhesive on a roll)
- punches/dies
- Embellishments
Steps …
- cut your shape from the post-it note. You may need to pop your note/s together to cover the image/shape you wish to mask.
- Position your cut out on your card
- Stamp your background image around the edges of your mask
- Dauber around the edges of your mask to define the edges.
- Stamp any more elements you want around your mask. Here I’ve used the small splatter stamp and grid stamp from Timeless Textures in Rose Red and Blushing Bride.
- I wanted a bit more texture or depth so I stamped the paint stroke in Pink Pirouette over the Grid stamp and added the textured flourish in Sahara Sand for a little elegance. Now that I’m happy with the ‘elements’ I can remove the mask to make sure I’m happy with how it looks ..
- I must say I’m pretty happy with how it’s looking. If I wanted more definition around the shape of the dragonfly I can stick the mask back on and dauber some more ink aroud it. Now to assemble my card …
- I stamped the sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams and looked and yes I like it and it’s sweet as it is but how about some embellishments?
- I do love adding some embellishments so wanted something that wasnt going to take away from the design. Enamel shapes in Pink Pirouette and Rose Red to match the colours I’ve stamped in and the odd tiny pearl is perfect for this card. The card is lovely as it is but maybe you’d like to step it up just one more time …
- I took a piece of Pink Pirouette Card stock and cut out one of the detailed Dragonflies, painted it with Wink of Stella and popped it onto the card … I do believe I’m in love with this card and this bundle!!
I do hope you like my card and while it looks very involved and very intricate it’s quite easy to do following these easy steps and I do hope you’ll have a go at making your own. I’d love to see what you create so please leave a comment with a link to your card at the end of this post.
Now … it’s time to check out what the other ladies have created using the masking technique …
