Good Afternoon! Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop! This week are highlighting Slimline Cards.
Slimline Cards
Slimline Cards appear to be all the rage at the moment! Some refer to them as something new but they’ve been around for years. I’ve often made ‘Tall’ or ‘Skinny’ cards or simply 3×6 cards. Have been making them on and off for 20 years!
Here’s my Slimline Card for today …
These cards are quite fun to make and will still fit in a business DL sized envelope. However if you have a template you can make your own … I’ll have one for you shortly!
There are a couple of rules for Slimline Cards. They need to be tall (or long) and thin. As a guide if you cut a square base and then score it in half and fold it you are pretty much good to go.
My card base today is 21cm x 16cm – scored at 8cm.
Trimming the Town
For today’s card I used the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. This pack is awesome for all things Christmas … or a wintery scene!
My main layer is simply cut from one of the sheets ….
I then cut a few little houses from one of the other sheets to populate my little snow town!
There’s also a sheet full of greetings and sentiments you can use to cut up …
I told you the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper pack was cool didnt I? You can order it and see more of the designs included here.
Did I mention that the dies in the Home Together Dies Set cut out the houses and trees from the Designer Series Paper? Oops … they do!
Now there’s a funny story in regards to the inside of my card.
If you know me at all you will know I dont normally do inserts in cards. This time I thought I would.
See I went and popped in my insert. Had it all stamped and made, put some multipurpose glue on the back and popped it in. Then I opened it … and to my horror I’d put the insert in upside down! I quickly whipped it off and stuck it on the right side and the right way up! My dilemma now was the glue on the other side of inside of the card!! Nothing else to do but to make yet another insert! So now the inside looks like this …
So I’ve come to the theory that I probably shouldn’t be doing these things at 3am!
Thank heavens for that 12×12 sheet of little houses and the sentiments!
You’re laughing right? I’m now laughing with you!
Let’s go hopping …
Join me and my friends as we share some slimline creativity with you …
