Ways with Shapes

We have oodles of dies and punches with a varied shapes … in all shapes and sizes! I love the layered dies we have and how you can use them in many different projects. We have all sorts of shapes – circles, squares, rectangles, stars and triangles!

For today though I wanted to share a case of a project I’d recently seen on a Demonstrator Group on Facebook. The original was created by the lovely BJ Peters and you can see her project here.

When I first saw BJ’s sampler I thought how ingenious to use our shape products for all the different shapes used to create this great seasonal Sampler! So I decided to make one too!

Quilted Shape Sampler using Stitched Triangles by Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

It will make a great decor piece for the home or a great gift for a friend! I also tried to not make it ‘Christmas’ specific.

Now for the elements …

Stitched Square Shapes make great panels
The happiness & joy tile was made on a stitched square. I’ve coloured the words from two stamps from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set with a Early Espresso marker. The & is cut out of the brass foil using the Well Written Dies.
The House is simply cut from the Trimming the Town Designer Series paper with the little smoke stamp from Coming Home behind the chimney.
The Moose is from the Merry Moose Stamp Set which carried over from last year’s Holiday Catalogue. It’s stamped on Crumb Cake in Early Espresso then coloured with my Stampin Blends. The Moose was feeling a bit chilly so made him a pretty red scarf!
Stitched Star Shapes for layering and creating gorgeous stars.
The Star is cut from the Brass Foil Card. It uses two of the dies from the Stitched Stars. They are laid on top of each other for depth.
Stitched Triangles for makes this Tree Shape.
The Tree is cut from Tis the Season DSP Pack with another of the Stitched Triangles. The stump is stamped in Soft Suede and is also from the Coming Home Stamp Set.

I can see that these Stitched Triangles are going to become very versatile. If you dont have them yet I’d be getting them soon before they go on backorder!

Trust me .. this is the only type of quilting you’ll see me make! I admire all my friends who can make a quilt. The hours they spend with planning, cutting, fusing, stitching and then quilting it overwhelms me! Give me card making and scrapbooking any day!

Let’s go hopping …

Let’s see what my friends have shaped for you today …

I do hope you enjoyed all the shaped creativity of today’s projects. I also hope it inspires you to dig out your shape dies or punches and create something with them!

  1. Well darn! I guess now I have to have those triangles! This is a beautiful project, and I need to make one for my sister-in-law who just took all my dad’s jeans and flannel shirts to make me a quilt.
