Let me introduce you to one of my sweet Stampin’ Up! friends – Kelly Kent! Kelly is based in Western Australia and she messaged me and invited me to be a Guest Designer on her Paper Adventures Blog Hop with her team! I was stoked to say the least!
Paper Adventures Blog Hop

What an honour to hop with these lovely ladies! The theme for today is “Water”. Now I did joke with Kelly and tell her that water is very important as we need it to make coffee! However, I’ve opted to go a little different. I wanted to do something today that wasnt just water so to speak. I thought a while about it and then it came to me ….

Dragonflies and Water
I often see Dragonflies around water and apparently there’s good reason for that. After a little online research Dragonflies are apparently a good indication for the quality of water. So if you see lots of dragonflies on a pond or lake the water quality is considered to be good.

I started by creating my ‘water’ pool on my piece of Shimmery White Cardstock with inks and a very drippy Aqua Painter using Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue. I also used my Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Write markers to flick some colour onto my background.

While my pool of ink was still wet I popped my cut out Dragonflies into the coloured water to soak up the colour. I then added a bit of Highland Heather to the wings and body to make them pop a little. It gives it a little watercolour tie dye effect. I did also cut one side of the wings off one of the dragonflies so it looks like it’s side on.
I do hope you like what I’ve created for you today. Now it’s time to head over to the next blog which belongs to Narelle Sim
It was such a joy and blessing to be asked to hop with these lovely ladies I hope you take the time to check out all their wonderful creations.
Thanks so much for stopping by and see you latte ..

Hi Leonie, I’ve just returned from camping over the weekend (no mobile coverage) and we were kayaking on the river and there were heaps of dragonflies! One even landed on my toe while kayaking! Love your dragonfly water themed card. Thanks for hopping along with us this month. Mandy x

Thank you for hopping with us Leonie. The inking on the dragonflies has captured the pretty multicolour look that we all enjoy. We have lots by us and very happy to know that this means the lake is in good shape!

I did not know that about dragonflies Leonie! I always feel lucky to see one when we’re out walking because they aren’t an every day insect over here. Thanks for joining us with a sensational card. The water pool is the most amazing colours – love, love, love the pool edge line! Kelly x PS, slightly disappointed about the lack of coffee – it was such a clever take on the theme! Next time….
It was a huge honour to be invited to join your team on your hop Kelly so thanks 🙂 Dragonflies are amazing creatures and I get a little smile on my heart when I see one. Thanks for your kind comments … that outline sorta just happened (or I should say I spent hours on that lol) I will have to make you a coffee card to relieve that disappointment
