Good Afternoon! It’s been a little nuts here today. Lots of things happening as we’ve just put a deposit on a house, the keyboard on my 2 month old laptop decided to die and it’s hubby’s birthday! So trying to keep myself sane(ish) I started on making this Nuts about You card for hubby’s birthday.

Nuts about Squirrels
This card was a little fun to make using the Nuts about Squirrels stamp set.
Now you might be wondering why make a card for my hubby using Squirrels … surely there’s a better stamp set to use for a 62 year old man? Well a little over a year ago, just after my Dad passed, I started collecting Charlie Bears. Hubby had seen one little squirrel they make that my sister had and I’ve been trying since then to find one for sale. Charlie Bears is based in UK and sells to collectors all over the world.
Well I found Scampeteer a couple of months ago so grabbed it for his birthday. When I was sitting trying to work out what Stamp Set to use for his card and it finally dawned on me – Nuts about Squirrels was the perfect set to go with his gift. Now a small Scampeteer Squirrel doesnt sound like much for his birthday but we did have our offer on a house accepted this week so yeah he’s also getting a house!

Nuts about You Card
My card has an Old Olive card base which is the colour I also used to stamp the oak leaves. I’ve then used a Cinnamon Cider layer which I’ve placed the brick patterned paper on. The patterned paper is from the Plentiful Plants Designer Series Paper pack and the bricks are actually in Cinnamon Cider so it was a perfect fit!
The squirrels are stamped in Early Espresso for the outline and Cinnamon Cider for the fur. I love this 2 step stamp set as you can either colour the squirrel outline image or use the 2nd solid stamp to colour it. A girl has to have options right? Once the squirrels were stamped I filled this layer in with the branches, leaves and sentiment.
I even did an insert for the card …

A simple strip of the bricks and some leaves was all the insert needed alongwith the Birthday sentiment of course.
This stamp set really is missing a sentiment! I think they could have added ‘You Nutter’ or ‘You Old Nutter’! It’s ok … I added it in when I wrote in the card – I’m good like that!
Maybe Stampin’ Up! should consult me on some fun sentiments on their stamp sets – what do you think?
Hubby had a great day and loved his card. I mean when you turn 62 and get 4 birthday cakes … and a new house it’s gotta be a good day eh?
Now I’m off for some cake!
Thanks for stopping by and see you latte ..
