A lot of people will tell you that you’re never too old to dream or it doesnt hurt to dream and they are right.

I, like most people, have always dreamt of doing something you love as your job and source of income. I never thought I would but now I am 🙂 and I love just everything Stampin’ Up!® has done for me and my family. I feel I am more confident in myself and my stamping and scrapbooking skills have improved and I can also supplement the family income to allow us to do and buy things we otherwise wouldnt be able to.

Here are a couple of cards using the “Live your Dream” stamp set from the new Summer Mini Catalogue. I just love this set as its just so pretty and it does come with a great quote which I’ll just have to make another card to show you!

skydreamThis first one is one I made for a Stamp A Stack and yes the ladies loved it.

Its done in one of my favourite colour combinations of Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip. The flower image is done using the ‘direct to rubber’ technique with the Stampin’ Write Markers (which you can still buy separately until Sunday so get your order in now so you dont miss out!) Then I’ve stamped over the stems with the Thanks stamp.

The piercing in the top right corner just gives it a nice look and is done using the paper piercer and piercing mat from the tool kit. The middle layer is just a small piece of patterned paper from the new Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper (warning: you will see alot of this pack in future posts!) layered onto the chocolate chip cardstock.

I’ve punched three holes for the brads. Now do you see how evenly spaced and straight they are?? Do you think I’m that talented I could do that myself?? Well if you do I certainly have you fooled! Actually I used the piercing mat for this again as the mat has different sized holes marked in it for this very reason. You can either use a pencil mark so you know where to punch or layer it over your piece and use the punch directly within the mat guide. Now I know that if I tried this I’d put extra holes in my piercing mat that shouldnt be there so I opted for the pencil markings!

TIP: Now you may also noticed that when you put brads in a card like this depending on how large a hole you punched they may still move around a little – to prevent this get your brads where you want them and just place a piece of sticky tape/cellotape to hold them in place! Not rocket science but it works 😀

This is the second one I want to share with you today.

If youre a regular visitor to my blog then you know I just LOVE Old Olive! I’m not usually a ‘green’ person but I just love the richness of this colour!  I’ve also found that it really does go with many other colours.

The flower I have again coloured with the Stampin’ Write markers using the ‘direct to rubber’ technique. Instead of re-colouring for the 2nd flower I have just huffed again and stamped it again.

You’ll notice I’ve used my beautiful punches here and what great value is the photo corner punch? two sizes on the one punch! I’ve also used the large and small ovals for the Thanks sentiment and stamped the little bird off on scrap paper first then stamped behind the thanks.

The border around the Olive layer is done using versamark and the flower border that comes in this set.

This set comes with 8 stamps for just $55.95 – thats less than $7 per stamp! It also co ordinates beautifully with the Afternoon Tea Designer Series Papers and the gorgeous Love Birds Rub-Ons. These are all available for a limited time in the Summer Mini Catalogue which runs until 31st March 2009.
