Yesterday was such a lovely sunny day we decided to take the girls for a drive.  I had suggested we drive to Ballarat for a surprise visit on my good friend Kerri and the World Card Making Day fundraiser she was holding but hubby insisted it was too far. Here begins the story so keep this point in your mind!

Loch Ard Gorge Loch Ard Gorge

Those were Loch Ard Gorge, The Blowhole, 12Apostles, London bridge and finish at Princetown and have lunch at the “Top of the Town” Pub.

It started all well and good and me with my fibromyalgia usually went back to the car while hubby took the girls on the longer walks. Loch Ard Gorge was great and the family took the steps down to the beach there. This is where hubby saw the wave coming in and Caitie didnt so therefore ended up with wet jeans. Needless to say yesterday’s joke (first one) was about how Caitie wet her pants at Loch Ard gorge!  We then stopped at London Bridge (or maybe it should be renamed to London ‘Gap’!) We took a few photo’s and then Caitie and hubby took one of the walks to the blowhole – little did they know it was the 3.2km walk – so glad I went back to the car as is Emily as she had a blister on her foot that needed a band aid.

Our next stop was to be the 12 Apostles however as I was viewing the photo’s he’d taken I was questioning him why he took a photo of the black helicopter and not the yellow one that was also doing scenic tours. Little did we know that as we were discussing this we passed the turn off for the 12 Apostles! We drove for a while and I suggested we had passed it and hubby was sure that it was further along than we were so we kept going … and going … and going … and going! Well we kept going all the way to Apollo Bay – some 100 kilometres!

So yes after the girls going for a run along the beach at Apollo Bay we started our way back and had no troubles finding the stop for the 12 Apostles on the way home. So after all the driving and detours it probably would have been quicker to go to Ballarat after all!

We did have a good day with all the driving and seeing all the sights and some not necessarily on the tourist map and glad we did as today the weather has been horrid with wind, rain, hail then some more rain wind and more rain – it even went horizontal at times!

Hope you all have a great week and will post again when I get back home on the weekend.

  1. Wow Leonie, it sounds like you’re having a lovely holiday despite the misguided directions LOL. Don’t you just love it when men say they’re sure about directions and they’re wrong? However, they rarely admit it. Have a lovely time for the rest of your break, it will come to a halt too soon.

  2. Sounds like you are having a fabulous time away Leonie! Enjoy the rest of the week – cant wait to read more stories 🙂
    Safe travelling!
    Lisa 🙂
