Getting Organised for 2018

Good Afternoon!  Well it’s been a busy few days here this week with the delivery of my new cube inserts from Uncle Dave!  So it was time that one of my resolutions was put into place and that being getting organised for 2018!

Getting Organised …

My plan for 2018 is to work smarter, not harder and to try and keep my area clean and organised.  Well it’s good in theory right?

Previously I’d work in a 8×8 area even though I had this lovely big desk.  So then I got myself a really long desk thinking this would help.  Well no, it didnt. I just had a longer mess!  So I spoke to my Brother in Law (also knows as Uncle Dave) who some of you might know has built things for me before (punch storage unit, ink pad storage unit, heat gun stand and the bow maker) and showed him pictures of all the other Kallax storage inserts and give him the cube dimensions and put him to task. I mean he’s retired so he needs something to do right?

Well this is what was delivered on Wednesday …

Craft Storage cubes - Leonie Schroder Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Australia

It’s enough to get any crafter excited right?  He uses plastic wrap on the cubes when he’s done to protect them during transport so they dont get scratched and all kept together as those shelves come out.  I am pretty sure he has shares in that stuff!

Papers & Cardstock

So we went from this …

To this …

What a huge difference they’ve made!

The thing about new storage is that it inspires you to keep going and sort and organise more!

So here’s my nice tidy desk …

Now since our new paper stacks are now 6×6 I’ve forever been looking for storage for those and they are now in the cubes too ….

I have two side by side and stole some of the foam hubby bought for his fish tank filter to slot in up the back of the shelf so they dont slide right up the back of the 12″ shelf.

Heat Gun

My heat gun fits snuggly between the stamp shelves and the ink pad & punch units which makes it handy to reach for when I need to use it. It sits nicely on top of the Many Marvellous Markers container …

My handy desktop paper storage is nice and handy ….

Ribbons

This is how I store my ribbons …

The four sectioned insert was found at Bunnings a while ago and the containers are from Howards and are actually pantry storage units for recipes bases/powder mixes.  They do fit the ribbons in perfectly dont they?

One of my favourite Ikea purchases is my light ….

The base has a USB port at the front and a wireless charging on the top makes it easy to drop the phone on and charge as I work.  The little bucket I use to put my small offcuts and dimensional backs into.  The little Madagascar Penguin ornament makes me smile.

Punches, Blends & Boxes

I love that my punch storage unit has shelves that can come out so I can customise it to fit the various bits n bobs in it …

My Stampin’ Blends fit perfectly on the single shelf and if I take a few of the shelves out I can store my bits and pieces and Memories & More kits in the empty Stamp Cases from Stampin’ Up! Now just because you dont see these cases in the catalogue doesnt mean you cant buy them – you can and they are so very handy for all sorts of storage and gift ideas.

Big Shot

This is the easiest way I’ve found to store my Big Shot dies, embossing folders and extra plates …

It’s just a basket from Kmart and it’s easy to flip through to find the right die set or embossing folder I’m after. I do try to keep them in alphabetical order to help locating what I’m after … I did say try 😉

My Big Shot sits on my desk top to the left of my lap top as it’s easy to have there as I tend to use it so much.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little Craft nook tour and hope I’ve given you some ideas on storing some of your craft goodies.  I’d love to hear your neat ways you store your craft supplies too!

Thanks for stopping by …

  1. Wow! Your stamping area is beautifully organized now. Must feel so good! Thanks for sharing your pictures. They are very inspirational.

    1. Thanks Laurie .. yes it is good to be so organised … lets hope I can keep it tidy too! It’s a joy to work in now instead of wrestling with cardstock and colours 🙂
