Hows this … Sketchy Saturday and I’m posting it on a Saturday and all! Well I started the post off on a Saturday 😉
Here’s today’s sketch by the lovely Alicia!
I quite like this sketch and it has many possibilities but today I chose to play with my Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. This is actually the first time I’ve inked this set and I must say I had fun playing with these butterflies!
I’ve rotated the sketch and here’s my creation ..

I just love the raspberry Tart Designer Series Papers with its rich colours so I’ve gone with the swatch from that paper pack.
Recipe:
Stamps: Three Little Words, Flight of the Butterfly
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Whisper White, Raspberry Tart DSP, Vellum Cardstock
Inks: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Pink Passion, Rose Red
Accessories: Stamp-a-majig, Stampin Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots
There is only one of the small butterflies stamped directly onto the whisper white piece and the rest have been stamped, cut out and affixed to the whisper white piece with glue dots. This enables me to bend up the wings to give the card a little extra dimension.
With the larger butterfly I’ve stamped the solid butterfly in pink pirouette and then used the stamp -a-majig to layer the doted outline on top. I’ve then stamped the ‘flower’ wings onto vellum cardstock, cut it out and mounted it onto the other piece. I have used the mini glue dots to stick the vellum down but only under the body so these wings can be bent up as well.
The picture to the right gives you some idea of the dimension of the butterflies – sorry its not a very good picture.
Now I do promise that no butterflies were harmed in the creation of this card – I didnt even cut myself!
I do hope you like this card – its not my usual colour combination but think they do compliment each other well.
Before I go I’d like to wish all my American friends (and their families) a very happy & safe Independence Day.
Till next time …
This card is really beautiful in these colours and the DSP!
I have found flight of the Butterflies tricky to use but the velum lifts it to a new level.
How sweet. I love those butterflies.
Looks good Leonie and yes, belated Happy Independence Day to the American ladies!
You did such a great job with this sketch!!! I love all those butterflies and your colors are great too!!!
Love the combination of paper and stamps used on this card! What a beauty! TFS!
For me this card holds a sense of magic to it Leonie….and it must be those b’flies!!! The colours ARE bold for you, and you have wrangled them well. KK is slowly growing on me and I like how you have used it in this card. Awesome effort.
Your card is beautiful, Leonie. The butterflies are so pretty and I like the dimension of them. Beautiful!
