Here we are at another Saturday and that means a Utah Diva’s Sketch Challenge.
Here is the sketch we were given to use – Easy enough you say? lol well you know me … dont do anything by halves!!
I had intended for this to be a 4×4 (10cm X 10cm)card to fit into my little Mini Magazine holders but I knew what image I wanted for the centre focus so started from that and built out. Well it sort of turned into an epic – bigger than Ben Hur card and ended up being 5 1/2′ by 5′ or 14cm by 13cm.
I’ve had the Wanted set for a while now and never had tried the ‘running horses’ so thought this was the perfect opportunity. So after a couple of practices with different colours and stamping off of each colour I got an image I liked.
I also wanted to use the Outlaw Designer Series Papers and so went with colours that coordinate with that pack.
Here is my finished card. I do like how it turned out but it is larger than I anticipated. I do hope you like it too.
I did see a card recently on Splitcoast Stampers where they’d used the paisley cuttlebug embossing folder but I dont have that so I improvised!
I did the faux embossing technique using the paisley stamp and really rust card stock.I stamped first in the Craft Whisper White ink and then using my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig I over stamped in really rust and if you look closely at this image you can see how it gives the ’embossed’ look.
This will be one of the techniques I will be doing in my Technique Classes starting in March.
I quite like the rustic look of this card and have now just realised I used the same DSP and Stamp Set in last week’s Diva challenge – I promise I’ll use different papers and stamps next week!
Time for me to test my pillow … night!
This is a GREAT card, have seen it in the “real” – great colours too and love the faux embossing technique!!! We’re blessed to have you guiding us!
I love your card! The horses are great and I love your faux embossing. I need to give that a try! tFS!
I love this card, Leonie. I am a big fan of Western stuff and love horses. The faux embossing is fantastic. You did a beautiful job with this sketch!
All back and linking. Great effort. Love all the cards…but this one FEELS like the gritty Ole West!!
Great card Leonie love the faux embossing it does look so good!!

I like the sketch challenge idea – great work. I may even give it a try LOL. I also like your faux emboss card – well done. I would never have thought to do that.
