Chalkboard Christmas

I had been deliberating for days as to what to do for todays Black and White theme for our Blog Hop. So many stamps, papers, ideas going through my head.

Then, as I was packing away stamps from last weekend’s class, it dawned on me what to do! I was packing away the Tag Buffet Stamps and suddenly thought this set would make a great Chalkboard Christmas card!

This is such a fun and cool technique.

Chalkboard simple steps …

  1. Using Versamark or Whisper White Craft Ink stamp your images onto a black (or dark) cardstock.
  2. Cover stamped images with white embossing powder. Shake off excess and heat to set.
  3. Using a stampin’ sponge lightly sponge Whisper White ink over card. This will give it the ‘dusted chalkboard’ look.

I love this technique and dont do it nearly enough. I love the fun look it gives. Plus you can still embellish or add colour if you desire.

I added some mini red rhinestones (Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels) to my holly to give my card a little bling. I mean who doesnt like bling at Christmas time??

You could recreate this card with any sentiment and complimentary images. I’m thinking it would look good with snowflakes or maybe the poinsettia stamps. So may just have to try one of those soon too!

Let’s go hopping …

Thanks so much for joining us today! Now it’s time to see what my creative friends have made for you with the Black and White theme.

I am sure you got as much inspiration as I have from these crafty ladies!
