Good Morning! It’s another sunny and warm day here in Sydney and I have a sweet card for you today using the Better with You Stamp Set
Better with You
The Better with You Stamp Set is one of those sets you see and you know you just have to get. I love birds and i do love this little fellow.
I’ve had a long affection for my feathered friends and remember years ago, I think I was like 15, I saw this book in a store, I think it may have even been ‘Farmers’ (that is what Myer was before it was Grace Brother’s). It was called ‘Every Australian Bird Illustrated’. Now I remember pleading with my Mum to get it for me and it would be ‘the only thing I want for my birthday’! If you’re a Mum I know you will have heard that from your children! It wasn’t cheap by any means at the time and we didnt have a lot of money for extravagant presents like this and especially not just a book. I did get that book for my birthday and I still have it .. it’s one of my treasured possessions!
So when I see any set with a bird in it puts a smile on my heart. So I had to get this set but not only for the bird. I also happen to love the sentiment I used today “the good things in life are better with you”. How nice is that sentiment? it’s perfect for just about any occasion and especially to let someone you treasure know how you feel.
How did she do that?
I’ve used a couple of techniques on this card …
- Water Colouring – I’ve stamped the bird onto water colour paper with Jet Black Stazon. I then water coloured with my Aqua Painter and the ink from my ink pads. The colours I chose were inspired by my daughter’s Quaker Parrot.
- Ink Pulling – the background stamp was stamped onto Shimmery White with Soft Suede Ink. I’ve then used a Blender Pen to ‘pull’ the ink on the inside edge. This gives it a bit of a shadow and create some depth.
Once I’d finished my card it felt empty on the top right of the oval. I added some vellum leaves to fill the area and balance the card. They are simply just punched with our Leaf Punch and slipped in behind the oval.
