Hello! I am Leonie and I live in a lovely town called Terang in the South West of Victoria.
We moved from Campbelltown (south west of Sydney) in 2021. I love where we live now! We look out over paddocks with cows and horses out to Mt Noorat which is actually an dormant volcano! The area we now live is referred to the Victorian Craters & Lakes area and is a little under a 3 hour drive from Melbourne.
I am married with 2 lovely adult daughters. My girls are both at University studying to follow their dreams. One is studying Creative Writing and English Literature and the other is studying Entomology and Ecology. We also have two very special Angel babies – Hannah and Daniel.
Before children (and crafting) I worked in the Finance industry with various roles from receptionist to Lending and Documentation.
My Stampin’ Story
I was introduced to cardmaking over 25 years ago when I purchased some little printed die cuts to make a baby card for a friend. The rest, they could say, is history. I have worked for a few different craft companies but once I found Stampin’ Up! that was it! I’d fallen in love. I find so much joy in crafting with others and showing people how to make their own cards. The look on their face when their first card is made is priceless.
2005 was an extremely hard year. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and also found out I was pregnant. Our baby was born still in April – he had Trisomy 18 and many other issues. God took his hand and led him home to Heaven. After that time I nearly gave up crafting all together and had contemplated selling everything. Then Stampin’ Up! opened in Australia in 2006 and it was a good way to keep busy while my girls were at school.
Signing as a Demonstrator was one of my best decisions, I’ve met some very amazing and very talented people. Many of whom have become very dear friends. It’s also given me the opportunity to travel – something I only dreamed of before!
I’ve earned some incentive trips, which still amazes me today, as only a very small percentage of demonstrators earn these trips and they really do take lots of work and determination to earn.
While my Stampin’ Up! business has changed somewhat since moving to Victoria I still love what I do and I love that I can run this business to work with my family and health. So I could wind down the business a little while we sold our old house of 36 years, packed up and moved some 1000km. Then late 2022 I was diagnosed Endometrial Cancer. So the business took a little hiatus while I had surgery and treatment. The recovery has been long and slow and I’m still learning my limits but I have started crafting again so that’s a step in the right direction. I also hope to move back into doing classes soon. They wont be every week like before but I’m hoping to do one in person and one online class a month soon and maybe that will progress to more – we will see!
When I’m not crafting I enjoy watching crime/mystery, sci-fi and medical shows and movies. I am a big Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Avengers fan. I also like to go exploring local towns and places with my sister. We’ve been known to go for day trips or stayovers to visit country towns or to Melbourne to see a show at the Theatre or visit the light show at the Botanical Gardens. We also love to check out cafe’s and test their food and coffee.
I hope I haven’t bored you. I want to thank you for stopping by and having a look at my cards and reading a little about me. If you’d like more information about anything please don’t hesitate to contact me. You can text or call me on my mobile or if you’d rather pop me an email.
