I had a very quiet New Year’s Eve well until it hit midnight and everyone in the street decided to start their car horns, they own fireworks and yelling at the top of their voices! Or maybe I noticed it more as I was suffering from a headache.
Although I did have a lovely day when my dear friend Libby came to visit and do some stamping – it also meant we got to christen the new extendable horn table I got from my favourite Scrap Shop at a lovely discount. We had a great fun day of card making and stamping although we did try to convince my girls that it was ‘our’ play date not theirs!
Libby wanted to learn how to use the Stamp-a-majig which wasnt a problem showing her how to use it – love that tool and everyone really should have one!
I had half prepared a card using A Happy Heart stamp set and East Coast Prep Designer Series Papers for Valentine’s Day.
Now the East Coast Prep papers are not my usual colours or style but I’d bought them in error and figured I should challenge myself to use them rather than to send them back but boy what a challenge!
Here is the card I made – its a tad bright hey?? and not my usual browns, purples, pinks and blues I usually do hey?
The colours used in the East Coast Prep DSP pack are Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, More Mustard and Wild Wasabi so I tried to stay within these colours. I’ve also used the Tiny Mosaics A2 Cuttlebug folder with my Big Shot on the tempting turquoise paper and it gives it a great texture and depth.
I stamped the main image in Real Red then layered the images with Stampin’ Dimensionals in various colours and trust me getting dimensionals on the back of those crosses are very fiddly!
I’ve used twill over the Wild Wasabi layer (which was scalloped with the Scallop Border Punch from the summer Mini Catalogue) and stamped directly onto the twill with the Wild Wasabi Classic Ink and cut out and layered the red heart with the dimensionals again.
This picture shows the raised images – well a little bit. So it gives you a bit of an idea how the dimensionals give depth to the card.
While Libby was here she made a card too using the same papers so pop over to her blog and have a look – she also left me with a nice order so she could take advantage of Sale-A-Bration which started today and goes till the end of February.
Click on the Catalogue below or the one on the left of my blog to check out the sets you can get for free for every $100 order or email me to see how you can get more FREE stamp sets.
Come back tomorrow to see the other card I made yesterday and a new way to stamp images I discovered the other night.
