For this week’s project we have a gorgeous Hybrid Christmas Layout created by the lovely Virginia! Why hybrid? well because it uses both traditional and digital images on the layout.

I have made use of digital stamps.  This stamp set is no longer available to purchase in rubber, but I love it so much I was very happy to know it is still as a digital download.  I love that once you purchase digital images you have them for ever!

Joyful Christmas
Also, as my printer is an inkjet, ie water based ink, it is perfect for printing out stamp images to colour in with Blendabilities. I’ve used the Poinsettia and Leaf from the  Joyful Christmas digital stamp Brush set (product code135269).   There are two ways you can get these to print out.  You can either use the software My Digital Studio that Stampin Up have at a fabulous price of $24.95. Or you can  use your Microsoft Word programme.  Which ever way you want to use, you need to print out using a inkjet printer on Whisper White A4 card stock.  I worked out how many I wanted to colour in and went from there.

I used my trusty Blendabilities  to colour in the Poinsettia  in two sizes and the leaf in 3 sizes. It’s a good idea to put print out as many as you can fit on the A4 sheet, that way you are not wasting any card stock. I coloured them with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Yellow and Smokey Slate Blendabilities alcohol ink markers.  The lightest of the Smoke Slate being used to help give more shading and depth to my colouring.

Next after colouring them in, I cut them out with my paper snips.  Now if you are fortunate enough to own an electronic die cutting machine and are comfortable using it’s print & cut functions, then by all means, use it to cut them out. After I cut them out, I gave the backs of the coloured & cut out image a bit of ‘burnishing’ with the stylus from my scoreboard and my bone folder too.  I put my Stampin Piercing mat underneath as cushioning.  As you can see, it’s made them more 3D looking.

I took my three rolls of Washi Tape (Watercolour Wonder set) and put a strip of each along two edges of the 12×12 so they crossed over in the bottom left hand corner.  These three Washi tapes are perfect for any occasions but really shine on a Christmas layout.  I layered my black and white photo onto Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Next I used the paint splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and some Cherry Cobbler ink and stamped around some of the background. I then placed the coloured in images around my sheet of 12×12 Whisper White card stock till I had them right where they looked best adhering them with several dimensionals & strips of snail adhesive.

For the year 1994, I used some cork stickers from the Project Life Seasonal Snapshot Accessory pack. Using the finest of the Project Life journaling pens, I did a little journaling between the lines of the washi tape and tah daah, all done, here it is!
